Why can't people stay at home when they're sick?

Hello,



We have a very fair and reasonable sick leave policy where I work, and things are currently winding down for Christmas so not overly busy.

Despite this, several staff came in yesterday sniffing and coughing and complaining of feeling unwell. They are all out sick now and several more people have also gone down with the bug.

Why the hell do some people insist on coming into work when it's not necessary and they're clearly suffering from something contagious?
